Riding cars vs. Riding bicycles...

In the world that we are living in today, transportation plays an important role in our daily lives. As we go to different places we use different modes of transportation to reach our destinations. Technology has indeed played a major role in the development of our transportation system. Before we only have animals, which later on replaced by bicycles as our means of transportation but due to technology we now have variety of modes of transportations like trains, buses and cars.

An automobile, motor car or car is a wheeled vehicle used in transferring passengers from one place to another, it also carries its own engine or motor which is the source of its power. They typically have four wheels, spacious and can fit a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 10. Many people now have cars since they find it more convenient to use one. A bicycle or bike on the other hand is a pedal-driven, human powered, single track vehicle. It has two wheels attached on a metal frame, one in front and the other on the back. A person who rides bicycles are often called cyclist.
Many people are debating whether which is better to use cars or bikes as a mode of transportation. So, we will compare and contrast both vehicles and see which is better.
Cars, when used will transfer us from one destination to another fast with a minimal use of effort. It is convenient since in riding one you will be safe from the pollution caused by other vehicles in the road. It can also transport more people from one place to another in just one transfer. Although using one can bring you a lot of benefits, it would take a lot of money for you to buy one and you need to buy gas from time to time so you would be able to use such. Aside from that cars are prone to accidents. Each year many people die from car-related accidents. Cars are also not environmentally friendly since it emits smoke that is harmful to our environment. Aside from that producing and using a car entails use of a lot of our perpetual and non-perpetual resources.

Bikes on the other hand, are much safer to use than cars because the driver has the control of the vehicle. It is much cheaper compared to cars since it doesn’t need to be fuelled up for it to work. It’s quite strenuous to use a bike since it requires use of the driver’s physical strength for it to do its work that is why using one can be a form of exercise; it strengthens our leg muscles as well as our upper body. Aside from that, we can avoid being stuck in the traffic since bikes can fit into small spaces. It is also environmentally friendly since it doesn’t produce any harmful elements in our environment.

Here are some ordinance in Makati about bicycle...

The promotion of cycling and improved pedestrian access has resurfaced in Metro Manila in the past month. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced plans to create a network of bikeways and footpaths in the metropolis. Other local government units have already adopted initiatives in improving pedestrian facilities in some areas, such as Makati City which together with Ayala Land Inc. developed a network of elevated walkways and Manila City which closed some roads, such as Avenida Street, in favor of pedestrians. A comprehensive bikeway network has also been constructed in Marikina City and which is planned for expansion over the next years.

Improving bike and walk ways is expected to result in a reduction of private car use and entice private car users to shift to public transport. Reducing the use of private cars and increasing the public transport patronage will help reduce fuel consumption, alleviate traffic congestion, and improve air quality.

It is always up to you whether you will be on cars or bicycles..  :D
